Yep, that’s your basic, ubiquitous Styrofoam cooler you’re looking at there. Exciting, huh? Of course, there’s a story that goes with it.
We have just come back home from our first weekend at The Eagle’s Nest. Last night (Saturday), we awoke at approximately midnight to the sound of small hail hitting our metal roof. Rain falling on a metal roof? Wonderful! Heavenly! Small hail hitting a metal roof? Think of it as if there were a hundred Daniel’s on the roof, each with a hammer. Yeah, you get the idea…
Anywho, we recovered from the hail and went back to sleep. At approximately 4:30AM we noticed that the Boo’s side of the queen-sized air mattress was approximately six inches higher than my side. Not good (and keep the fat jokes to yourself). We whipped out our handy dandy air mattress inflator, woke up every neighbor within 50 miles of us from the shrill it made, and soon were back sleeping – until we heard what sounded like footsteps. “Clomp, clomp, clomp” we heard for about five minutes. When I couldn’t stand it any longer I decided to get off the weight-challenged air mattress and grabbed my red rider bb gun (with a compass in the stock), convinced that either the sight of it or me in my skivvies would ward-off any would-be intruder. Alas, I never did find the source of the noise. Naturally, I slept with one eye opened for the rest of the morning. We woke up at around 6:30 this morning and got our coffee on. Feeling a little hungry, I decided to go out on the front porch and retrieve the leftover pizza we stored in the Styrofoam cooler. Yeah, you now know the rest of the story. If you’ll look closely you’ll see bits and pieces of Styrofoam ripped off of the cooler. I assume it was a raccoon, but I went and shot a squirrel just in case :) (I’m kidding! Sorta…). Anyway, the good news is that the critter couldn’t get to the pizza and I had breakfast (but the squirrel never had lunch).

T minus two weeks and counting
Please check out the updated slide show to the right. We are now only two weeks away from closing on the Eagle's Nest. We had our inspection today and it went pretty well. As you can see from the pictures, the floors have all been installed, as have the light fixtures, ceiling fans, etc. Oh, and the stacked stone fireplace is complete. We can't wait to have you spend a weekend up there with us!
